God's Promises Never Fail
"For He spoke, and it was made; He commanded, and it stood forth." - Psalm 33:9
When you receive a promise from the Lord, consider it fulfilled, even when you see nothing happening yet.
Difficult to do, isn't it? There were countless moments in my life when I doubted God's promises, only to be proven wrong over and over again.
In 2012, Hassie, a dear friend of mine prophesied that I would one day write my own book, she saw a vision of me promoting my book at an event she went to one weekend. When she told me about it, I laughed. To me, it was impossible. But God was not joking. My first book (which I co-wrote with my husband- another miracle story) came out in 2015, and guess what! My first promotion was at the same event my friend went to! It's not a bestseller (yet - I believe God's not done with it), but it has touched many hearts by God's grace. One notable review which made me and my husband tear up was from a reader in the US who had an abortion, felt so guilty about it and wanted to end her life. But then she came across our book "Worth the Chase: Finding Love God's Way" on Amazon, and she said it gave her new hope to live life God's way.
In October 2014, Michelle, another dear friend prophesied that I would meet the man God has prepared for me very soon. God revealed it to her during her quiet time with God in an adoration chapel. I laughed again because I was in love with someone else at that time (or inlove with the feeling)
I went to an outreach programme and an old man approached me & said, "you will meet the one soon". I freaked out. How did he know? Another friend told me to prepare my heart, for the day is coming when I would meet the man God has chosen for me. But in my mind I was thinking, "I already met him! He just need to love me back!"
In December 2014, I was at the adoration chapel, I closed my eyes and prayed to God for a writing mentor, when I opened my eyes, I saw a man in front of the Holy Eucharist. My heart was racing for reasons I did not know. After hours of waiting for me to finish my time of prayer, the man approached me and gave me his business card. When I saw what was written on the card, I cried! He's an author from NZ! So I knew then that he was the answer to my prayer for a writing mentor. Little did I know that he is also the same man my friends and a stranger prophesied about, the one God has prepared for me. Isn't God amazing? I never thought the one God created for me is someone from across the miles, and that we would meet in God's holy presence, in front of the Blessed Sacrament, at a time when I was at my lowest. Our friendship which blossomed into genuine love gave birth to our first book which I mentioned above.
In October 2017, my husband and I had a car accident. I was diagnosed with brain concussion, I could not sleep every night for over a year and there were a lot of complications with it. I was angry at God. Why would He let it happen when I was going through homesickness? I moved to NZ from the Philippines in December 2016, just before Christmas, so imagine my pain when I was bedridden and with no family around. There were times when thoughts of "I would never get better" crossed my mind. But when I opened the Scriptures, God directed me to Romans 12:12, "Be joyful in hope, endure in tribulation, persevere in prayer." And so I did, with ups and downs of course. I held on to God's promise that He would heal me, and that my suffering was necessary to strengthen my faith and to purify my heart, to make my heart more compassionate towards the broken because I experienced it firsthand. And God delivered. He healed me, just when I thought there was no hope.
Are you suffering right now?
Are you doubting God's promises?
Do you feel that God is distant and is not listening to your prayers?
"Consider it pure joy when you go through trials of many kinds, for the testing of your faith produces perseverance." - James 1:2
Easier said than done, I know. But it works.
God is with you. He goes before you. He delivers. He is a promise-keeper. He is a miracle worker.
